Principal Residence separation
Sale of principal residence during separation. The software mentions 'change of ownership'. I kept the house and bought her out. Her name was removed from the title. Am I required to show this as a sale of my principal residence in which I still live?

I have a similar situation as mentioned above. As part of the Property transfer and refinance, I have legal fees. Would the Legal fees be tax deductible for the Principal Residence transfer and refinance?

If you incurred legal fees as a result of a transfer of a Principal Residence that was a "change of ownership" as a result of a separation, the legal fees would not be tax deductible.

In the circumstances you describe, the only party that had a "sale" of his/her principal residence is your spouse and not you.
