Carry forward unclaimed charitable donations from a previous year
I found receipts for charitable donations I made in a year for which I've already filed. I didn't claim them or carry them forward then though. How do I claim them now? (I'm within the five year cutoff.)
Do I have to amend the old return to carry them forward, so I can claim them now? Or do I just apply them now as if they're for this year? Not sure what to do...
P.S. Hope this is the right place for this question... Kinda new here.

Credits and deductions
Yes, you do need to Refile/ Amend your returns for the previous years.
If you didn't claim charitable donations in the current year, you can claim them for any of the next five years. If you have donations to carry forward, you must claim these before claiming donations made in the current year.
Thank you for choosing TurboTax.
