Can I amend my return using TurboTax if I didn't file the original return using it?

I feel my accountant hasn't filled my RRSP contributions, unused contribution amount correctly and I think the numbers in my T1 general schedule 7 are not correct. The NOA for 2025 hasn't been generated yet but I feel the discrepancy might have been running since 2024. Can I make an amendment using TurboTax even if my original return wasn't filed using it?

After you file

You need to file your return using a refiling service using TurboTax. You can change your return directly (amend) in your My Account CRA by mail, by completing the following forms:

CRA: T1-ADJ T1 Adjustment Request

After you file

Thanks for responding. I don't want to amend by mail. You said I can file an amended return using a refiling service using TurboTax. Can it be done even if I didn't use turbotax for the original filing? Will it be able to pull the original filing details or do I have to fill everything from scratch?

After you file

You must file your return in TurboTax to make changes to an already filed return. If your return has already been filed, you cannot NetFile using different software because the CRA does not accept a second filing.

You have two options: you can contact your accountant, too.

  • CRA My Account: Use the "Change my return" service directly in the CRA My Account portal.
  • Mail (T1-ADJ): Complete Form T1-ADJ, T1 Adjustment Request, and mail it to your tax centre with all supporting documents.
