Can I claim eligible dependent if my spouse lives in a different country?
I am married. I am living in Canada. But due to his work, my spouse lives in a different country. We have a 7 year old kid who lives with me. I have my job in Canada and my husband is not supporting me financially. In that case, can I claim for "Eligibile dependent credits" for taking care of our son.
I read the below from CRA. Will I not qualify for the 2nd part ?
1. You did not have a spouse or common-law partner or, "if you did, you were not living with, supporting, or being supported by that person"

After you file
It would be a good idea to contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and check with them. If you are in Canada or the United States, you can call the CRA at 1-800-959-8281.
