Troubleshooting
I just checked, Turbo tax ignores Box 21 and only uses Boxes 52 and 53 to calculate tax, also my boxes 52 and 53 do add up to Box 21, just like everyone else
A family member just had their return processed by a tax provider with no problem e-filing.

Troubleshooting
I'm getting a little suspicious of the "fix" date. A previous post changed the date from 14th originally to the 16th by the Moderator (page 14,Sunday). Now it's back to the 14th.
It's getting too close to deadline.

Troubleshooting
Morning,
I also tried to file my taxes and Turbo tax prevented it with the error "The sum of capital gains before June 25 in box 52, and capital gains after June 24 in box 53, must equal the total capital gains in box 21. Review and adjust your entries."
Do you have an immediate solution to fix this?
Please add me to the list of people who will be notified when this is fixed. It is very frustrating as I want to Netfile it and not mail my income tax

Troubleshooting
See Error Codes and fixes as per TurboTax Website. There is a posted solution for Error 95365.
Resolved error codes as of April 7, 2025
Error Code 95365
Error issue: There are entries for capital gains on T3 information slips and CRA has indicated that there may be a rounding issue.
Customer action: For all T3 slips in your return: - Remove the amount from Box 52, if applicable (leave it blank) - Enter the sum of Box 52 + Box 53 in Box 53 - Ensure Box 53 equals the amount in Box 21 If the error persists, try rounding the box amounts (21 and 53) to the nearest dollar and submit via NETFILE once more. Try filing after April 7, 2025.
Expected resolution date: Adjustments were made to the production system on April 7, 2025 to address erroneous instances of this error code due to rounding issues.
As of 8pm on April 11th, this is still not working. I have deleted box 52, and put the total of box 21 into box 53 and the amount is still not transferring to line 68140. I also tried rounding the amount up and that also did not work. Hoping this is fixed on Monday April 14th with the update.

Troubleshooting
My T3 had a small amount in box 21 and nothing in 52 or 53. Software wouldn’t allow me to file.
i was able to fix the problem by dividing the amount in box 21 and entering one part in box 52 and the other in box 53. That allowed me to Netfile ! ie box21=box52 + box53

Troubleshooting
Our CRA T3 Forms Do Not Have A Box 52 and 53.
TurboTax needs to correct their software STAT it is giving me Errors. I need to submit my taxes.
Also interesting fact from Inuit's Website : The inclusion of box 52/53 were originally included to distinguish the proposed different capital gains rate,s but was later axed by the government.

Troubleshooting
This forum has suggested the following fixes:
1. Put boxes 52+53, 54+55, and 56+57 into boxes 53, 55, and 57, respectively and put zeros into boxes 52, 54 and 56. This did not remove the error for me.
2. Round all boxes 52-57 to the nearest dollar, ensuring that boxes 52+54+56<= box 52 and boxes 53+55+57<= box 53. This did not remove the error for me.
3. Do step 1 and step 2. This did not remove the error for me.
It turns out that there are two boxes 52's and two boxes 53's. I put the same amount in both. This allowed me to get past the TurboTax error, but then I got this message from CRA:
CRA message #1 refers to my case. TurboTax will not allow me to enter a value in Schedule 936 Chart A on line 68140. It sends me off to a form with my T3's which are all entered correctly. This seems to indicate that this is clearly a TurboTax problem related to not populating line 68140. |
