Calculating CPP for Self-employed in 2024 - Schedule 8 Part 4
Wondering if anyone else having this issue: Line 1 of Schedule 8/Part 4 isn't populating with the self-employment earnings from Line 29 of the return (T1 General form), so the CCP contribution isn't being calculated. I spent two hours with TurboTax support last night: first tech advised uninstalling and reinstalling, which I did, but this didn't fix the problem. I called again, asked right away to speak to a Tier 2 support person, and after a wait I walked them through the issue. I was first told that I should call CRA because it was a CRA issue, but I was able to show how it worked properly in the 2023 version of TurboTax, so this is a glitch with 2024. They eventually said they would "open an investigation", but that the glitch probably wouldn't be fixed in time, and they recommended that I complete the return manually. They also confirmed that the Online version is behaving in the same manner.
Line 17 of Schedule 8/Part 4 needs to feed back into Line 22200 of the return, so it isn't a matter of just filling out Schedule 8 by hand, I would need to fill out the entire return by hand.
I'm wondering if there is a work-around or easy fix that anyone has discovered.

Troubleshooting
Contributions to CPP on self-employment income are calculated automatically, unless one of the following situations applies to you:
1. You turned 70 before 2024,
2. You are receiving CPP, are over 65, and have opted out of making additional contributions, or
3. You earned employment income greater than $73,200, on which you contributed the maximum amount.
Do any of these apply to you?

Thank you for the response.
Unfortunately, none of those circumstances apply. She is younger than 70, not collecting CPP, and she did not earn employment income - only self employment income - and we didn't put data in the "Employment Income" boxes.
Schedule 8 populated properly on the 2023 return, but for some reason it won't work properly on the 2024 return.

Troubleshooting
The 2024 tax return that I filed for my son was reassessed and sent back to him because Turbo Tax had missed the CPP payable on his self-employment income.
I updated Turbo Tax yesterday (2025-06-27) and I was pleased to see an update for Schedule 8. Schedule 8 is where the CPP is calculated on self-employment income. Sadly, this update did not resolve the issue of CPP not being calculated on self-employment income.
The problem is that the self-employment income being reported in line 29 of the T1 General Return is not being populated into Schedule 8 / Part 5 / Line 1. The work around is to use the F2 key to override Schedule 8 / Part 5 / Line 1 and then manually enter the amount from line 29 of the T1 General Return into Schedule 8 / Part 5 / Line1.
Once I over-rode this field as described above, Turbo Tax calculated an amount owing that was close to what the CRA had calculated (there was a difference of about a $1).
BTW, I am using Turbo Tax 2024 Standard
Hope this helps.
