I tried to install 2016 H&B on a new machine to amend an old return, at the request of the IRS auditor. Installation failed 'automatic updates' throwing an error #42016 dialogue box. Outcome, my state return install was blocked by 'Intuits install and updater' failure (ProdMgrs take note)
I browsed the community for manual updates, Intuit used to provide an archive of patches and manual updates in the past for all TT versions, that archive is buried, gone or obfuscated, by community happy talk and this link, https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/manually-update-turbotax..., this is helpful for TT 2023, 2022, 2021, but doesn't explain what a 42016 is and doesn't provide useful links to previous TT versions manual updates and patches.
#42016 isn't defined anywhere on the Intuit site (PROD Mgr take note) it should be, what is it? what does it mean? since it impacts a lot of desktop end users. A clear link, to patches and manual updates with instructions is needed, that ability to ensure TT continues working for end users and isn't blocked because of a failed software updater. with directions is needed. This is missing, the community doesn't provide it

PROD Mgrs, come on, host a page with all the links to manual patches, and create a 'man' page that describes the manual updater process.. Unblock your TT users..
the support number, an really nice agent suggested a tool to remove state and reinstall it, but the tool only works for 2023 TT.
that I should pay 100.00 and have to hunt around for info and hope i can find it.... 'En**bleep**ification' of recent Intuit TT compared to previous versions, is ensuing.. this is not a desired Community or support customer experience. supporting only the last 3 versions, even though people might need 8-10 years of updates and patches to keep the product working, after all didn't they pay for it?
