foreign tax credit

My 1099 Div from my brokerage firm included foreign qualified dividends in the totals on lines 1a and 1b. Foreign tax paid is listed on line 7. I entered the proper figures into Turbo tax during the income section, but when I tried to take the foreign tax credit Turbo Tax states that I didn't enter any foreign income. Since the foreign income is included in the total income I entered for the 1099-Div, I am at a loss as to how to enter that foreign income so I can take the foreign tax credit.
