Fees paid within mutual funds to the fund manager are not considered carrying charges for tax purposes in Canada. Carrying charges are expenses incurred to earn income from investments, such as interest on money borrowed to purchase investments or fees paid to manage investments outside of a registered account. Mutual fund fees are considered management fees and are not deductible as carrying charges.
