Aussie citizen, I worked in Alberta for more than 183 days in 2024, on an IEC working holiday visa. I returned to Australia for 4 months in 2024. Am I a deemed resident?

Essentially, in Canada for 8 months and Australia for 4 months during 2024. I paid Australian taxes, but have not paid Canadian taxes yet. Am I deemed resident for Canadian tax purposes?

Hello!
Thank you for reaching out.

Your residency status depends on the length & purpose of your stay as well as your intent to return. If you have left Canada permanently, you will most likely be considered a non-resident. However, you can confirm your residency status by filling out the form NR73 (Determination of Residency Status)

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/forms-publications/forms/nr73.html
