Similar issue.
My old computer is a Windows 10 virtual machine running on a 2012 Mac laptop. I have working old backups of that VM but all backups containing TT22 are corrupt and will not boot.
I can access all my old tax files prior to 2022 on the old computer, but no longer trust it to continue to work. I have copied the data files for years before 2022 to Windows 11.
The last few years I used downloaded software but I am not sure I still have activation keys for all of them.. I still have installer CDs and keys for even older ones but my new Mac has no CD drive. I have successfully installed Parallels Desktop and Windows 11 on my new Mac and installed and activated TT22 with no problems on it but I have not yet found a way to get the TT22 data files off the corrupted virtual machine on the old Mac. The corrupted Windows 10 VM boots almost to a working state then hits a bad virtual disk sector and quits. The virtual disk is on the old Mac's boot drive, so that (flash) drive is clearly no longer reliable.
Hoping to do 2 things:
- Somehow boot the corrupted Windows 10 in a mode that will let me copy the TT22 data files.
- Migrate the working older TT software versions from the working Windows 10 to the new Windows 11, or else get hold of downloadable installers for all the past 7 years of Turbotax so I can install them from scratch on Windows 11. Though I don't have activation keys for all of them, I did register them with Intuit so may be able to get access to keys (though Intuit does not seem to have any live support for users any more).
How do I access last 7 years on new computer because old machine crashed.
Did you use a desktop version for all those 7 years? Do you have back up .tt** (TurboTax back up files) saved on an external drive?
If you have them saved you can install a program on a new computer using the same License codes you have.
Thanks for choosing TurboTax.
