Expenses related to a home workspace can be included on line 22900 but there are considerations to review with the new allowances and possibilities available due to Covid 19 this year.
Here are Canada Revenue Agency links with information regarding:
CRA Eligibility criteria - Temporary flat rate method
Note: If using the form method, one of the forms required, the T777S-Statement of Employment Expenses for Working at Home Due to COVID-19, for the flat rate method will be available on one of our upcoming software updates. It will be found when you enter your T4. Scroll down to the bottom of the T4 where you will be asked about working from home.
However and unfortunately, you may come across locked forms, or receive a message saying that forms aren’t finalized when using TurboTax, you will not be allowed to complete the filing of your return. Please see the link below for more information.
Why does TurboTax say my forms are locked or haven’t been finalized?
Thanks .. this is exactly what am looking form, so when TurboTax will enable this feature in the online version?
We are sorry for the inconvenience while TurboTax is working on the release of the T777S right now with testing going on. Making sure all is right before the client uses it is of great importance to us. We thank you for your patience as the update will possibly be ready by end of next week.
Thank you for using TurboTax.
hello TurboTax,
Your answer in this thread centres around the more complex deduction using the form.
I want to use the flat rate (up to $400) deduction for home office expenses due to COVID.
Why has that deduction feature not been activated?
When will it be?

Thank you for your patience.
I found this form in my prepared Tax return.
And I have tried to insert 400$ as flat rate following instructions.
The software does not allowed me overwrite 0.00, nothing works there, not double clicks or anything
How should I do it?
Thank you
Sorry to see you are having difficulties with the employment expenses entry. For the flat rate method to be activated in TurboTax Online, you enter your T4 and scroll down to the bottom where you will be asked: Will you claim employment expenses for working at home due to COVID-19 for income on this T4? NEW! You will then click on Employment Expenses found lower in the menu on the left side of the screen to then answer yes on the right screen. On the Employment Expenses Profile page, check the option: I didn't receive either form from my employer. On the next screen Check the flat rate method and enter the number of days you worked from home.
Thank you for using TurboTax.
I still don’t see the ability to enter Covid work from home expenses on my online version. When will that be available?
The checking of the box and selecting the $400 flat rate does not reduce anything on my wife and I's tax returns. There is problem with the online version of TurboTax.
Please advise.
@TurboTaxGinette Ginette and other admins here - thank you so much for the helpful guidance/ advice! Following the Flat Rate Method I am able to enter 200 days of WFH which amounts to 200*$2 = $400 the max expense I can claim using this method. However, I see my Balance Owing drop by only $172...I was expecting the Balance Owing to drop by $400 ......it feels the system is only set to give a 172/400= 43% actual deduction for a total $400 Expense. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated here.
@fastfile7 I am experiencing the exact same issue, have you found a solution? @TurboTaxGinette
Hi, I have received no response on this. It is quite disappointing.
I will try and see if Turbotax reachable by phone.
I am experiencing the same problem. The TurboTax software will not allow us to input the flat rate. Do you know when this will be resolved? I have a number of clients in the queue pending resolution of this function in the software.
I am having this issue as well too - cannot access the flat rate work from home. I get a T2200 from my employer so I don't want to select that I haven't received the form...

My Turbo Tax will not let me claim the $400 flat amount. It tells me I don't qualify for this. What the hell????
I updated my TurboTax software to the latest as of this writing (Version 00.01.61 Build 6010 068G22). In the profile section, T4, I clicked "I had employee expenses, including for working from home due to Covid19". In the T4 section itself, where entering values, I have no "Will you claim employment expenses for working at home due to COVID-19 for income on this T4?" at the bottom as stated ...doesn't exist for me. After the T4, in "Employee Expenses Profile", I get a "Looks like you don't qualify for the employee expenses" If i click the "...worked from home for at 50%...", a partial T777 form opens below, however, i cannot enter the days worked from home... Please fix! Thank you.
Did you ever get a response from Turbo Tax regarding this? It keeps telling me I don't qualify for this.
I do not see any of these instructions you have stated. Can you provide screen shots? Your program keeps telling me I don't qualify. REALLY!!! I worked from home for almost four months and you're telling me I don't qualify!!! Your program isn't that user friendly. Next year, I will you a different program.
I spoke with Turbotax rep and he showed me that the figure appears on my return but the software doesn't appear to use the $400 for any calculation to reduce my wife or my tax payable. It litterally has no bearing on my return and the rep would just say I guess your circumstances are such that your tax payable is not reduced. That does not seem possible and I believe the software is not using the figure.
I don't know, and unfortunately I don't remember the link i had that did talk about this. The article said it's is not a dollar for dollar return and it's possible to not make any difference, depending on your income. I know it's a pain but i guess one could put in a less income to try and see if it does make a difference. If not, you may have uncovered a bug.
