I'm filing my taxes separately from my husband who's self-employed, but Turbotax is forcing me to upgrade from TurboTax Deluxe to "generate more forms" that I don't need.

My husband will be using a personal accountant outside of Turbo Tax so I don't need the additional forms for self-employed income when I'm not self-employed.

Do you happen to have a T4A with box 48 filled out? If yes, CRA considers you to be self-employed. If yes, you will enter your name as the business name and your home address as the business address.

Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

Hi,

No, as I said, I don't have anything that makes me a contractor. I did have carry over losses from a previous year from the stock market. That's the only way I could see it request me to upgrade my subscription? How do I overwrite it. I don't see why I need to pay twice as much forever just because I'm carrying over the losses.

I do not have any T4As or anything of the sort.

What we suggest then, would be to start your return from scratch without importing from last year.
