marital status

"What was your marital status on Dec 31" does not give me the option of "separated". I was previously living common-law.   The only options are "married" or "living common law"

Did you import information from the previous tax year to the current year?

Did you update your status as separated with the CRA? If not, you do need to update that information.

Once you have been separated for 90 days because of a breakdown in the relationship, the effective date of your separated status is the day you started living apart.

If you are filing your return before your 90-day separation period is over and that period includes December 31, enter your marital status as married or living common-law, as applicable.
