Can you claim the installation of a heat pump if you are self-employed and work from home?
You can deduct the portion of the cost that is relative to the portion of the home that you use as a home office. For example, if you entire home is 2000 square feet and your home office is 200 square feet, then you can deduct 10% of the cost of the heat pump. Be sure you understand this and can defend your deduction if you should get audited.
