Why am I not eligible for the FREE version? I went through the list of things that are NOT free. I am not reporting any of those things.

I always read the FAQ before posting and, according to the FAQ, I was eligible for free filing.

 

I called support and it turns out that the is  a BUG in the website that false steers people to the paid options.  The support technician told me how the BUG could be avoided and I was, in fact, able to file for free.  It was nothing that I had done.  It was a BUG in the web site.

If you used Auto-Fill, or transferred your information from last year's TurboTax file, something may have been entered on your return that disqualifies you from using TurboTax Free Online.

I also was a victim of the website bug. The website automatically upgraded me from Deluxe to Premier when it was not need as we only had T4,RRSP and charitable donations to enter. I contacted support and was told I will not get a refund for the difference in price, we did not need the Premier edition and were charged for it. There is no way to downgrade once the software decided it wants you to use premium. Also there is a total disconnect with TurboTax for user support, it is not easy to report issues or get help with issues. Might just be the last yar I use TurboTax, have been a user for many years.
