Work Permit - Marital status if husband and children don't live with me

Hi

I came to Canada in March 2019 on work permit and I am working as Nanny. I am filing the tax return using Turbotax. I have a question.

My husband and kids don't live with me here in Canada, so when I select the marital status as married in turbox tax, there is option for Spouse details, and his SIN number. How can I give SIN number when he is not here.

Or what option shall I select under marital status. I am married.

Will appreciate help on this.

You will put yourself as married. Because he is not in Canada and has never been here, you can select 000 000 000 for his SIN# and apply zero for his income, make sure you are not selecting "spousal amount" either. And please ensure you indicate that the children do not reside with you and ensure you are not claiming any "dependant" credits for your children.

Spousal amount ensure you answer NO because he is not in this country.
