I only have the 2017 PDF file created by TurboTax and can't find the tt17 file, can I use the PDF file?

You cannot automatically import from the PDF file. You can manually enter the amounts from the PDF. Look for a file with the extension .ttbk. If you find it, you can rename the extension to .tt17 and then you should be able to open it using TurboTax 2017.
