Does the "Payments Related to Principal Residence" only apply to someone living on a reserve?

If you live in Ontario, you may qualify for the 2023 Ontario Trillium Benefit.

You can apply for this credit if you were a resident of Ontario on December 31, 2022 and one of the following applied to you:
  • Rent or property tax for your principal residence in Ontario was paid by or for you in 2022,
  •  You lived in student residence
  •  You lived in a long-term care home, or
  •  You lived on a reserve and energy costs were paid by or for you for your principal residence on the reserve in 2022

or you lived in a principal residence in Northern Ontario on December 31,2022, and one of the following applied to you:

  • Rent or property tax for your principal residence in Northern Ontario was paid by or for you in 2022,
  •  You lived in a long-term care home, or
  •  You lived on a reserve and energy costs were paid by or for you for your principal residence on the reserve in 2022.

If any of these apply to you, then you can apply for the credit and enter them to the Payments Related to your Principal page.
