I am a university student living away from home. Is my rental considered my primary residence, or my parents house?

In 2024, I lived in a university residence for 4 months, and rented a house for 8 months. During this time, I returned home to visit, for a total of approximately 2 months (combination of weekends, to a couple of weeks at a time). I'm unsure if, for the purposes of taxes, my principal residence is my parents house or my living arrangements at university.

Hi!

Thanks for reaching out! For the purposes of your taxes, your primary residence is still your parent's house.

Hope this helps!
