I sold my primary residence and we bought another house. Is that selling capital property? I thought I needed to upgrade a level in turbo tax to deal with this, but maybe i was wrong?

You do not need to upgrade.  You do have to report the sale of your principal residence on the tax return by entering the information in the profile section called "Your home and other property".  If the home was always your principal residence and never used in any part to earn income there are no tax consequences and you do not report this in the capital gains section.  This is due to the principal residence exemption.  If it was used as a rental or for income you should look at:
