Can I deduct my morgage payments from the rental income

Thank you for choosing TurboTax,

As per CRA, you cannot deduct the repayments of principal on your mortgage or loan on your rental property.

You can deduct mortgage interest or loan interests you borrow to finance the purchase of your rental property or to improve the property. However, you cannot claim a tax deduction for the mortgage principal.

Please see our TurboTax article on Claiming Expenses on Rental Properties to learn more about the claiming expenses on rental properties.
