How do I pull up T2036 for a home reno rebate in turbo tax?

In order to claim a Home renovation rebate, you don't have to fill out any form regarding T2036 as this is for Federal Foreign Tax Credits. If you paid taxes to a foreign government, you may be able to get them back as a tax credit. The form is used to calculate the non-business foreign tax credit you can subtract from the income tax you owe to the province or territory where you lived at the end of the year. Hence it has nothing to do with the home renovation rebate.

Yes, home renovation rebate differs from province to province, in order to claim on TurboTax follow the steps listed below:

If you reside in Ontario follow these steps:

  1. Select Find from the menu and enter provincial tax credit in the search field
  2. Select Provincial Tax Credit Profile from the search results, then select Go
  3. On the Your Provincial Profile screen, select the checkbox for Ontario Seniors' Home Safety Tax Credit, then select Continue
  4. On the Ontario Seniors' Home Safety Tax Credit screen, enter the details of each eligible expense
  5. On the same screen, enter any assistance received or expenses being claimed on another return, then select Continue
  6. On the Address of the property screen, indicate whether the expenses apply to the address on your return. If they donā€™t, fill out the applicable address
  7. Select Continue and proceed until the Here's your Ontario tax and credits summary screen. Your credit amount appears next to Ontario seniors' home safety tax credit

If you reside in the Sakwatchen then follow these steps:

  1. From the menu, select Find and enter provincial tax credits in the search field
  2. Select Provincial Tax Credits from the search results, then select Go
  3. On the Your Provincial Profile screen, select the checkbox for Saskatchewan home renovation tax credit, then select Continue
  4. On the Saskatchewan Home Renovation Tax Credit screen, answer the Yes or No questions, then select Continue
  5. Enter the details of an eligible expense, then select Add to save your information. Repeat this process for each expense
  6. Enter any amount claimed by someone else (if applicable), then select Continue
  7. Proceed until the Here's your Saskatchewan tax and credits summary screen appears. Your credit is now included in the amount next to Saskatchewan's non-refundable tax credits.
