I am unable to enter data from my 1099-R Federal service retirement plan. Using turbo tax

turbo tax treats my federal service pension as if it were an IRA.

When you enter 1099-R information, on the 1099-R replica screen, make sure you uncheck the box for IRA. See image below:

To enter your 1099-R, here are the steps:

In TurboTax online,

1. Sign in to your account and select Pick up where you left off
2. From the upper right menu, select Search and type in 1099r and Enter
3. Select the Jump to 1099r
4. On-screen, Let's import your tax info, select I'll type it in myself

If this is not an IRA distribution amount, it will show on line 5a or 5b.  If it is taxable, it will show on line 5b.  If it is not taxable, it will show on line 5a for reporting purposes.
