I made a past service (2022) contribution to a Registered Pension Plan (RPP) in February 2023 - does this count towards Y2022 income tax or Y2023?

It was a retroactive payment for my 2022 probation period, that was purchased in Feb 2023 - so I assumed it should be filed in Y2022 taxes.

According to Canada Revenue Agency, You can deduct the total of your RPP contributions for current service, or for past service for 1990 and later years, on your 2022 Income Tax and Benefit Return. However, you cannot carry forward the amount not deducted to 2023 or later years.
