I made <10,000. My wife is taxed on my free tuition amount. I get the deduction. How does my wife claim my tax deduction? I do not seem to fit the definition of dependent

If you made less then $11,653 your spouse will be able to claim a portion of the Spousal Amount on her tax return for you. If you are preparing your tax returns together using Turbo Tax and provide the information concerning your tuition the software will calculate a transfer of eligible unused amounts to your spouse.

You can review the out come in the detailed tax summary for each of you.

You can find a detailed summary of your tax return under the "Review" tab > "Bottom Line (tax summaries)"> then look for the paper and magnifying icon in the lower left hand corner, select "Detailed Tax Summary". You will have a line by line sample of the Federal Tax Return.
