If I made group RRSP contributions using pre-tax dollars which reduced my taxes each pay, do I still need to claim those group RRSP contributions on my tax return?

I can see an amount in box 40 of the T4 slip, which to my understanding is the amount of employer contributions. Since the contributions were matching, do I just claim that same amount in the RRSP section as well?

You should receive an RRSP contribution receipt for the entire contribution representing your and your employer's share of the contribution.  His portion counts as income to you and is taxable.  You would receive a deduction for your contributions up to your deduction limit.
