If my daughter withdrew from university 2 weeks after paying tuition , do we still claim it? Do we claim the amount the university kept as a penalty fee?

Hi Darahg123,

Thank you for reaching out with your question.

Your daughter would have to go to the school's website to download the tax form (T2202). If they have a t2202, it would state how many months they were a student and either full time or part time student. It will show much eligible tuition fees can be claimed. You can't necessarily claim it as a penalty fee unless your T2202 says so.

Hope this helps, please feel free to reach out with any concerns,

Dan.
