My children are we’re 5 and 4 in 2021 and attended public school. Do I check yes that they are students?

No, your children are not considered students who can deduct any education tax credits. Only a child of at least 17 years old and enrolled in a qualifying college, university, or educational institution, is eligible for the tuition credit.
