Why do I have to answer questions regarding T 5008`s before I can Netfile. Now my amount owing increased by $150,000.00. What a bummer!

Hello Ronald,

You should only have to fill out a T5008 if you were paid or credited amounts for securities you disposed of or redeemed during 2018. If you indicated that this applied to your tax situation, TurboTax will have shown you a page where you can input your information. If it does not apply to you, then you do not have to enter any information relating to T5008's.

Here is more information about T5008's to help you decide whether it applies to your tax situation: https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/tax-re...

Based on the notice of assessment you linked above, you indicated that you have $425,532 in income for 2018, and paid $8,743.53 in income tax. This is where the $154,216.46 in outstanding taxes comes from.

If the information you entered on your tax return is incorrect, and the T5008 does not apply to you, you can make changes to your return and file it again.

Here is some information about how to amend your tax return that has already been filed: https://turbotax.intuit.ca/tips/change-filed-tax-return-703

Hope this helps!
