NETFILE typically opens at the end of February. For 2025, it'll open on February 23, 2026.

Once NETFILE is open, it's available 21 hours a day, seven days a week. The service is down the remaining three hours a day for maintenance. If, for whatever reason, you miss the tax filing deadline which was applicable to you, you are still able to use the NETFILE service.

Tax years 2021-2024

The CRA’s NETFILE service accepts tax returns for the past four years. NETFILE and Auto-Fill My Return services are available to file your tax year 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021 returns.

Tax year 2020 and prior

You need to print and mail your tax returns for 2020 or prior tax years.
