2024 Turbo Tax Not Working Error Code 603

I bought my Turbo Tax at Costco like I do every year.

I installed the 2024 system but my key comes up not valid error code 603 but it says authorized for 0/5 installs.

But when I log on with my ipad I'm good to go.

Never seen this over the last decade or so using this program.

Should I return this back to COSTCO & figure out another system ?

Is this product purchased from Costco in Canada or from US?

This was purchased in Canada at a Canadian Costco in Edmonton.

TurboTax Desktop Canadian version can only be downloaded up to 3 devices ( Windows OS) not on a MAC or an iPad. It was always 3 installs per License code & we never had 5 installs allowed for a Desktop version.

Well aside from not being to send a pic as it’s too big for your system.

it states 0/5 Active.
& states: installed on 0 out of 5 machines.

still same error code.

This is installed on my home desk top with windows.

 

So I’m not able to use this program, Frustrating as it was a great tool to use. Plus what the program cost.

Please try to send us a picture of the product case so we can check. As mentioned earlier you can only install TurboTax Desktop (Canada) on 3 computers. 5 installations are only for US TurboTax Desktop.

Like it says on the box, the product you bought is TurboTax Online edition. This is not a version you install on a computer and you can't use this code in a TurboTax Desktop software. 

 

To activate your product, you have to use this link and activate your code into your TurboTax online account. When you'll click on the link, you'll have to select between "I have an account" or "Create an account", and then you follow the steps. When the code will be activated and linked to your account, you will be able to file 8 Deluxe returns from your Online account. As long as you stay in the Deluxe version (no upgrade, no other products/services added), you won't have to pay at the end. On payment page, the system will ask you if you want to apply the return to your code.

 

As my colleague explained to you previously, the Canadian Desktop version can be installed and activated on 3 computers only. It looks like the software you installed on your computer is a US product (5 installations). You should uninstall this software.

Okay did as directed:

Still not working comes to the web site for Canada & then asked for the key code ( Inputted )  Then it states the key code is not valid so now I have no access at all. 

I'll call COSTCO & see if I can return it for a new one. (I don't think they will exchange it.) 

My question is after all these years they make this harder to login too.

 

Not happy with this product at the moment.

I did notice the web link is different from the activation card to what you sent me.

I have used the program for over 30 years and done hundreds of returns as a volunteer.

I bought the Premier edition from Costco Calgary. When I entered my licence code it gave me an error message indicating the code was invalid. However, it then allowed me to import last years data and start the 2024 return. When I try to start a second return it is requiring me to buy an online package. The premier edition covers 12 returns (tho customer service thought it only covered 5).  I cant import the data for a second return as the Tool Box menu which should be on the left hand side doesn't appear. 

 

Was on the line with customer service for an hour but she had no ideas what so ever. Sent me a link to help which won't open. (I had already checked it out in any event.) Her supervisor had no idea either. Cant transfer me to technical support as "it isn't a technical issue". 

 

The only advice I was given, repeatedly, was to pay TurboTax to complete the returns for me! 

 

Any ideas??

@mlp37 Did you call the US support team by accident? It sounds like they were giving you instructions for the US version - we don't have Tools or a Tool Box menu in the Canadian version of TurboTax. You can contact the Canadian phone support team at 1-888-829-8608.  

 

During tax season (from CRA NETFILE opening (mid-February) to the regular filing deadline (April 30), we're available 7 days a week during these hours:

  • 9 AM to midnight ET for English support
  • 9 AM to 9 PM ET for French support

During the rest of the year (May 1 to mid-February), we're available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET for English and French support.

 

 

Also, please make sure that you have purchased the right product. The codes for TurboTax Premier Online will not work with TurboTax Premier Desktop & vice-versa.

 

If you have bought TurboTax Online, please go to turbotax.ca/activate to use your code before you start your returns. I'm having the same error. My dad bought the turbotax standard version from Walmart in North Battleford, which allows more returns on it and he gave me the code to set up on my computer. I log into my account and enter in the code that he provided to me and I keep getting either error message 608 or error message 603. I followed the instructions and getting the same result, Im getting incredibly frustrated, because I want to be able to do my tax when my T4 is released and I'm not even able to get the program onto my computer for this.

@Lisbethsalander96  did your dad purchase a TurboTax Online version or a TurboTax Desktop version? Error 608 occurs if you are not downloading the product from the right account. You do need to log into his account and download the product from there.

As per the card from the Box. # 083881 1. Visit turbotax.ca/activate to activate the product you purchased. 2. Creator sign in to your Intuit account 3. Activate your Turbo Tax software by entering in the 16-digit activation code 4. You're all set to file your tax return P/N 123302 I have followed the above from the directions from the box. In the e-mail threads below you sent me another link which I followed I signed in inputted the key code now it shows it's invalid. That is where I'm at with this at the moment. I deleted the the download that at least it took the key code. Now I have nothing. I have used this software for many years & this is the first time I've had this issue. We have been going back & forth on this for a few days now. Costco will take it back but I'm a three hour drive to my Costco, Either way, this looks like I will have to spend more funds to make this work. I have not spoken to anyone to date, Except for COSTCO in Edmonton Canada.

@redsled88 If your dad purchase a TurboTax Online Version, it can only be linked to one account. If the activation code is already activate dad linked to your dad's account. It cannot be linked to your or any second account.

Hello 

I just figured out the problem: It's web based, not program based like we have seen for a decade or so.

I should of picked up on it, says right on the box. File Online no installation required.  But I've never seen that before so now my concern is security, but in the long run nothing is safe. 

Just have to run through the web based system looks completely different than what we are used too.

Just sorted it out it's web based, not program install based to you computer.

That's what threw me off. On the front of the package it states it's File Online, no Install required. I should of seen that but i missed it.

It works now just looks completely different.
