How do I fix NETFILE error code 32?

If you get NETFILE error code 32, it means that the CRA's records indicate you’ve filed a Canadian tax return before, but in TurboTax it says you’re filing a Canadian tax return this year for the first time.

To fix this:

Using TurboTax Online

  • From 2025 tax return, select Tax profile > Mandatory questions.

  • At A few things we're required to ask, under Is this your first tax return being filed with the CRA? ensure that No is selected and select Continue.

Using TurboTax Desktop

  • From the side menu, select Introduction > Contact info.

  • At Additional Personal Information, Under Are you filing an income tax return with the CRA for the first time? ensure the answer selected is No.

If you’re receiving this error and in fact you are a first-time Canadiana tax return filer, contact the CRA for assistance.
