How do I claim the PEI children’s wellness tax credit?

Starting in tax year 2021, a $500 nonrefundable PEI children’s wellness tax credit is available to families with children who participated in eligible wellness activities.

Effective January 1, 2024 the amount is $1,000 per child.

The child must have been under 18 at the start of the year in which the activity fees were paid. Visit Line 58365 - Children's wellness tax credit for more information.

Instructions for TurboTax Online

1. Answer the initial Personal info interview questions if you haven't already. This unlocks 2024 tax return.
2. From 2024 tax return, under To do, select Personal info > Start/Continue.
3. Complete the rest of the Personal info profile, including info about your dependant(s).
4. From 2024 tax return under Add to your return, enter dependant and select  Claims for dependants.
5. At Claims for Dependants, for the question Would you like to review or claim any of these credits? answer Yes, then continue.
6. At Your children and other dependants, select Enter Credit Info next to the eligible dependant.
7. At Claim Dependant Credits, select the checkbox for Child Wellness tax credit (provincial credit only), then continue.
8. At Did your child participate in fitness or arts activity?, enter the amount of eligible expenses and choose who is claiming the credit, then continue.
9. Claim eligible fees for all eligible dependants and then select Done Entering Credits.

Instructions for TurboTax Desktop

Ensure you’ve entered details about your dependant(s) on the Dependants step in TurboTax.

1. Select Find and enter claims for dependants, select Claims for dependants, then select Go.
2. At Claims for dependants, answer Yes to the question Would you like to review or claim any of these credits? then continue.
3. At Dependant credits, select the name of the eligible dependant, then select Enter Dependant Credits.
4. At Claim Dependant Credits, select the checkbox for Child Wellness tax credit (provincial credit only), then continue.
5. At Did your child participate in a fitness or arts activity?, choose who is claiming the credit, and enter the amount of eligible expenses, then continue.
6. Claim eligible fees for all eligible dependants and then select Done Entering Credits.
