How do I claim two leased vehicles in a year on Form T777?
To claim two or more leased vehicles on your return, you must complete a Statement of Employment Expenses (T777) for each individual vehicle claim.
Follow the steps for your edition of TurboTax:
- Answer the initial Personal info questions if you haven't already. This unlocks 2024 tax return.
- From 2024 tax return, under Add to your return, enter employment, and select Employment expenses.
- At Employment Expenses, if you meet the conditions, select Yes.
- At Emloyment Expenses Profile, indicate that you have Form T2200 signed by your employer. (You can’t claim employment expenses if you don’t have it.)
- Check the box for Motor Vehicle Expenses and answer the questions.
- At Employment Related Driving, enter the information for the first leased vehicle.
- When you're done, select Enter Another Vehicle.
- Repeat the steps for another vehicle as applicable, then select Done With Vehicle.
- Select Find, enter employment in the search bar, select Employment expenses, and select Go.
- At Employment expenses, if the conditions apply to you, select Yes. (If you're preparing a spousal return, indicate who incurred the expenses).
- At Employment Expense Profile, check the boxes for Motor Vehicle Expenses and Leased Automobile during the year, and any other applicable checkboxes, then continue.
- At Employment Related Driving, enter the required vehicle and mileage info for the first vehicle, and continue.
