How do I troubleshoot update issues in TurboTax Canada Desktop?

If you’re having difficulty updating your TurboTax Canada Desktop software, try the options below to resolve the issue. This applies to any tax year installed before May 2025.
Option 1: Run the update fixer tool
- Download the tool TTDCaUpdateFix.exe from this link.
- Select TTDCaUpdateFix.exe.
- Re-launch TurboTax Desktop Canada.
- The patch should now download without issue.
Option 2: Download and install the new version
- Download the installer for the specific year from TurboTax Desktop Downloads.
- Uninstall the current TurboTax Desktop Canada Version.
- Install the newly downloaded TurboTax Canada software.
- You can continue using the same software as earlier.
Even if you uninstall TurboTax Desktop, your tax files, activation info, and registration info will remain. Reinstalling the software will continue to use this existing info.
