Hello,
I was filing a tax return for a couple and they actually moved provinces from where their TSlips were addressed prior to December 31st. So their 2019 tax returns are filed as B.C. Residents when actually they were Alberta Residents in 2019. I had them change their address with CRA over the phone and send in a T1-Adj asking for the CRA to change their province to Alberta on their 2019 return. Have you heard of CRA actually doing this as speaking to the operator at CRA help desk was unsure?!? They received their notice of assessment and still shows BC as province for Provincial Taxes. Please respond. Thanks
If you filed a return with the wrong province selected, then you filed with the wrong provincial forms. This means you might not get the correct provincial credits or deductions. Rather than sending in an adjustment, it might be better to ask the CRA to delete the returns that they currently have. Then you can redo the whole return, with the correct provincial forms, and then file that.
