How do I go about paying cra with online banking

Simply visit your online bank account to add the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a payee, there are 3 options that should be available:

  • CRA (revenue) – current-year tax return: Use this to make a payment for your current tax year.
  • CRA (revenue) – tax amount owing: Use this to make a payment for an amount owing for previous tax years.
  • CRA (revenue) – tax instalment: Use this to make payments for future tax year(s).

You will then be prompted to enter your account number, this is your social insurance number. Now you are ready to make a payment. Most Canadian financial institutions are set up for online banking with the CRA, you can find a full list and more detailed information here.
