I am an apprentice mechanic and after entering $1600 in tool receipts our refund amount did not change. Is this normal or did i do something wrong?

Is there a minimal amount i need to claim before it makes a difference on my return? Thanks for your time

You will need to make sure you have completed the form in it's entirety and entered your "income from employment as an Apprentice Mechanic".

This credit will post as an "Employment Expense" to Line 229 and will only reduce your net and taxable income. Depending on your individual circumstance, you may not see an increase to your refund.

Check your Detailed Tax Summary to see if any amount is actually posting to Line 229.
