I claimed one of my children as an eligible dependent, but it didn't change my refund amount as it has in previous years. What am I missing?

Did anything change this year?

Did you get married or start living common-law with someone? In that case you'll only be able to claim your child as an eligible dependant for the part of the year when you were still alone.

Did your child earn more income this year? The credit is reduced based on the child's income. If it's past $12,069 (and your child is not disabled), then you won't get the credit at all.

Also, if your child turned 18 in 2018 (and was not disabled), then in 2019 you would no longer get the credit.
