I separated from my common law partner last year. Do I have to enter a net income for him? If the answer to that is yes, why?

If you were living common law for any part of 2016, you do need to report your ex common law spouse's net income on your income tax return.

The reason for this is that it is used to determine your eligibility for certain deductions and credits.

If you do not know the amount, do your best to provide an estimate.
