I split from my ex in 2023 but accidentally recorded as common law still without realizing. For 2024, I want to record as separated in 2023 but can only state yes or no?

Separated July 2023, he started filing our 2023 taxes together and I did not even think about what was recorded for our marital status until this year's. Will it matter ?

If you were separated for all of 2024, then there was no change in your marital status for 2024. You do have to make sure that the CRA has your current marital status correct.
