If I accidentally claimed the Northern Living Allowance how do I remove it? My husband is claiming the basic and additional amount, and I seem to be claiming some, too?

You have to go back to the 1st Northern Residents Deduction page then continue through the pages, deleting any amounts you put in. First it will show the amounts for the first spouse, then it will show the amounts for the second. Then go back and remove the check mark for you and/or your spouse if you don't want to apply for the credit.

To get back to the Northern Residents Deduction page in TurboTax Online:

  1. Click Find (magnifying glass) in the upper-right.
  2. Enter “north” in the Find window.
  3. Select Northern Residents Deduction from the list of results, then select Go.
  4. The Northern Residents Deduction step appears.
