Turbo Tax asks if you want to prepare your returns together so that the software can view and manage both returns at the same time allowing it to maximize deductions and credits based on the data that you enter. At the end of the process two separate individual tax returns will be created for each of you to file with CRA.
You can choose to prepare your returns separately (perhaps one spouse does not have all required information) but you will need to provide some details of your spouse to avoid missed or duplicated deductions and credits.
If you have started a tax return with the Marital Status of Married and not selected to prepare the returns together you would need to start a new return in the "Return Manager" and follow the process for joint preparation.
