How do I determine which tax credits I should claim?

You would determine tax credits based on your eligibility to these credits. As per Canada Revenue Agency (CRA): All deductions, credits, and expenses: Here is a list wherein you can find all deductions, credits and expenses that you may claim to reduce your tax payable. You would find the tax credits starting from line 30000 and you may press it to find additional information on who is eligible for that particular tax credit. For instance, when you click on line 30100 which is "age amount", a federal non-refundable tax credit which only applies to individuals who are 65 years and older and a second condition wherein their total income must be less than $89,442. There are many tax credits listed in the link above and you may find several tax credits that maybe applicable to you.
