When claiming a child as a dependant, both parents' income will be accounted for to calculate the allowable Canada Child Benefit (CCB). Therefore, the parent who claims the child will be the one whose name will be on the CCB. Claiming a dependant will not affect the amount of taxes owed or refund received.
