If you were married and claimed married on your previous tax return but in 2022 your marital status changes to "divorce", then you will need to enter your ex spouse's information so that the government doesn't allow you to claim certain credits depending on your household income.
When you don’t know your spouse’s income and can’t find out through reasonable means, the CRA recommends that you enter your best estimate. Please be sure not to claim the spousal amount.
