CRA states that in cases of Shared Custody - only one claim for a CAI payment can be made per child. The payment cannot be split between parents.
Although they have no specific rules regarding this specific credit, with other credits and shared custody, it is up to the parents to decide which one will make the claim. In the event that both attempt to make a claim for the same child and an agreement cannot be reached between the parents, the claim will be disallowed for both.
Please see this information from CRA regarding the Climate Action Incentive: Line 45110 – Climate action incentive. For further clarification contact CRA.
