What should I do if my spouse wasn't tax resident and didn't have SIN number?

As per Tax Tips, when you are using TurboTax Software to file your tax returns and have a Non-Resident spouse, you will enter her SIN number as 000-000-000 . You will still declare that you are "Married" in your income tax return, and you should not attempt to file the couple return with your spouse, this is only possible if both live in the same province.

If your non-resident spouse is required to submit a Canadian Tax Return, you must file it separately with your spouse.
