Do I need an upgrade from the standard version to claim solar panels? can i claim partial payments from last year and next year?

I have made a partial payment on solar panels.  the balance will be paid this year.

where do I enter the claim for this year?

You do not need to upgrade but you do need to fill in the business income statement.

Say yes to self-employed. "Other Business"

You will enter the cost of the panels in the Capital Cost Allowance section. You can not use more than the income you produced. ie you can not create a loss.
